The Power of Routine

I want to briefly mention the power of routine. We all have routines. Some of them cause stress and some of them keep us calm & cool. But any routine sets the tone for our day, how we handle stress, and our interactions with people.
Is your routine to wake up as late as possible (or wake up on time and waste it on your phone), check your phone (like you are right now  then run around like broccoli with its head cut off ‪#‎VeganVersions‬? Do you see how that sets the tone for a frantic and stressful day? You're beginning your day with anxiety.
My spiritual guru, Abraham Hicks, says the best way to deal with stress & adversity is to do so BEFORE it even happens. That means take care of YOU, man.

My morning routine involves waking up early, making some hot tea, lighting a candle or putting lavender my oil diffuser, reading some personal development, and meditating. That is what it takes for me to start my day right and carry that positive energy throughout the day. You can throw in working out, like me, but only after all this is done.  That is when I feel ready for the day. And the way I feel doing this routine rather than my other routine mentioned above is the reason I do it. I make sure I'm happy first before I go out into the world.
You should try it sometime. Give yourself 7 days of following a routine through and keep note of the difference in how you feel. So what if you have to wake up earlier? Put in your big girl or boy panties and take care of your damn self. You deserve it.
Tips to establish a routine:
  • Wake up an hour earlier -I know, you like your sleep. We all do. But I promise you, life is meant to be lived. So just do it, okay?
  • No facebook, instagram, email, or any other social media platform or electronic source until you've taken some YOU time. Scrolling your newsfeed doesn't count. In fact, stay off your phone for at least an hour. Life isn't meant to bel lived through the screen on your phone, either.
  • Meditate for 5-10 min! Just sit and quite your mind (easy to do in the morning) and focus on your breathing for a few minutes. If this is too difficult, I give you permission to download the headspace app and use it, but ONLY for meditation purposes. Don't get sucked in. The headspace app is AMAZING for anyone wanting to learn to meditate and who needs a guided meditation.
  • Drink tea
  • Light a candle, incense, or drop some oil in your diffusor
